Pink Granite Canister
Inspired by Barry Brickell's domestic ware canisters and thrown on-site at Driving Creek Potteries during a month-long residency. I felt the canisters would be a great surface to experiment with new glaze surfaces on.
This pink granite glaze was made with rock collected in the Buller/Kawatiri gorge. Brought to Driving Creek to be crushed and milled in the heavy machinery Barry collected from the gold mining industry.
Rough unsieved outer surface, celadon liner glaze
17cm x 11cm x 11cm
All glazes were made on-site using materials sourced or processed in the Coromandel.
The clay used is a mix of Driving Creeks "Corogold", Macs Mud buff, and Pahiatua wild clay.
Texture
This glaze has a rough textured outer finish with a clear celadon liner glaze inside.
