I love my little space at the old cheese factory at Tataraimaka, Taranaki New Zealand.
One visitor described it as humble and that sits well with me.
I love that from start to finish my pots are made in this space. As a child I loved making and wanted objects to be "real" "finished", nothing was ever the quality I was searching for in the handmade till discovered ceramics.
The fact that so few raw materials sourced from nature can be transformed by hand into the useful and domestic continues to astound me. I feel like a facilitator to this process, the rock clay and gas are all being pulled to each other, to create something new, to change in form, to be made functional.
